Adult Services Librarian (FT)
CLOSING DATE: When Filled RATE OF PAY: $32.95-$42.95 Hourly (D.O.E)
JOB SUMMARY:
The Adult Services Librarian serves all library divisions, including Information, Technology & Circulation, Events& Publicity, and Collections & Cataloging.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
• Develops, plans, and presents innovative and engaging events for the community as a whole and adult patrons, filling in on all library events as needed.
• Assists with creating appealing library promotion and publicity and positively represents the library to the community, media, and stakeholders.
• Works at service points to provide top-of-the-line information services and public assistance.
• Provides in-depth and accurate reference, research, reader’s advisory, and referral services.
• Provides skilled technical support to staff and the public and implements up-to-date hardware and software technology resources.
• Initiates and nurtures positive community partnerships and relationships and integrates volunteers.
• Evaluates and implements innovative library services, products, and technology upon approval by the Library Leadership Team.
• Oversees and maintains attractive, organized, and appealing spaces in the library according to the Library Style Guide.
• Manages specific collections, including reviews, purchases, and withdrawals.
• Provides customer engagement that exceeds expectations in conformance with the Library’s Mission, Vision, and Values and the values of Park City Municipal Corporation.
• Other library duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ability to effectively interact, work, and develop meaningful relationships with people of various cultural and diverse backgrounds.
• Ability and willingness to present programs to the public.
• Strong customer engagement skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and positively with all internal and external stakeholders.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Education and/or experience equivalent to an M.L.S./M.L.I.S.
• Knowledge of and experience in programming and literature for adult populations.
• Experience with library software.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• The employee must occasionally lift more than 30 pounds and push/pull a cart with up to 100 pounds of books, supplies, and equipment.
• Work is performed primarily indoors in a public library and office setting.
• Periodic exposure to stressful situations.
• May require small amounts of travel to and from meetings, training, and conferences.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to low.
• Non-traditional working hours, which may include evenings and weekends.
