Northern State University (NSU) is seeking an instructional designer to join our Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL). The ideal candidate will be able to collaborate with faculty, CETL staff, Instructional Technologies, Media Services, and the office of Online and Continuing Education (OCE) in the creation of high-quality face-to-face, HyFlex, and online courses. Additionally, they will evaluate online courses to ensure they meet the standards set by the South Dakota Board of Regents and design professional pedagogical programming for faculty. This is a hybrid position that requires 60% of hours be completed on campus (meetings, consultations, trainings, programming, etc.) and allows for 40% of hours to be completed remotely (course reviews, professional development, etc.) Experience and training in instructional design, teaching and learning, or organizational training and development preferred.
The instructional designer collaborates with faculty, the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, Instructional Technologies, Media Services, and the office of Online and Continuing Education to help faculty develop accessible, engaging, and academically rigorous courses in a variety of modes, including face-to-face, HyFlex, and online. They provide trainings and mentorship to faculty regarding the learning management system, ensure the instructional integrity of course development projects, and support the ongoing assessment and quality assurance of online courses through Quality Assurance Reviews and Quick Check Reviews. In pursuit of these duties, the instructional designer manages two student workers: a Technology Fellow and a Graduate Assistant.
