Salt Lake City Public Library is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Director of Programs, Outreach, and Partnerships. The Assistant Director Programs, Outreach, and Partnerships (AD-POP) is a new executive level position that provides an exciting opportunity to shape the future of the Library. The AD-POP will provide high-level leadership within the organization, setting standards, establishing goals and measures, and assessing impact and outcomes in the areas of programming, outreach, and partnerships, within the context of our new Strategic Roadmap. The AD-POP will work collaboratively with all managers and staff and directly supervise and provide guidance and strategic direction to a team of five service coordinators (Youth, Teen/Adult, Technology Access, Digital Inclusion, Data and Assessment). The AD-POP will foster a culture of curiosity, experimentation, and assessment, supporting their team in the creation of meaningful outcomes, and high-quality customer experiences for our patrons and partners. As a participant on the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), the AD-POP will contribute to high-level, strategic leadership of the entire organization, and work together to foster optimism, manage change, and coach and support staff in being experimental, agile, and highly collaborative.

Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program, five years progressively responsible library-related experience, and two years of supervisory or management experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated leadership qualities, including experience with mentoring and guiding staff to ensure people and teams are effectively using their time to deliver and improve services. Skilled at creating a healthy and positive work environment where open communication and a collaborative "yes, and" spirit thrive.
A demonstrated capacity for emotional and social intelligence characteristics including self-awareness; self-management; a high level of internal motivation; empathy; ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills; skill with group and team dynamics, and the ability to motivate and negotiate with diverse individuals and groups.
Experience in project management, including planning and evaluation, managing a budget, scheduling, and monitoring, coordinating multiple projects, and project communications. Must be able to use technology to plan, communicate, deploy and evaluate multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to assess, recommend, and implement improved policies, processes, and procedures relating to area of responsibility.
Ability to use data in decision making.
If travel is required for library purposes must have transportation. If using personal vehicle must maintain state required insurance.
A growth mindset and deep curiosity that leads them to wonder, ask questions, seek out new information and experiences, and approach challenges as opportunities to experiment and learn together.
Knowledge of service design or "design thinking" tools and methodologies.
Experience and skill in data analysis and outcome-based assessment.
Experience with library operations, programs, and services.
Experience with library computer systems, databases, software, and commonly used.
Spanish language and/or other non-English language skills.
