Job Title: Circulation Aide
Reports To: Circulation Supervisor
Location: Various Libraries
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Hourly Rate: $12.30 per hour
Summary: Proficiently handles all circulation duties related to assisting patrons in the Circulation area as well as checking in and re-shelving returned materials.

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Fluency in English is required. Fluency is Spanish or other language is desirable.
Ability to apply common sense and logical thinking in order to form a conclusion or judgement. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Work is performed indoors in a standard library environment with moderate levels of noise. A Library Aide is required to work a variety of scheduled hours including days, nights, and weekends as needed.

The Library Aide is regularly required to sit, stand for long periods of time, stoop, bend, reach, carry, push and pull. Must be able to push a fully loaded book cart weighing approximately 150 lbs. and must be able to lift weights up to 50 lbs. Must have manual dexterity to operate a computer and grasp books. Must be able to read a computer screen and locate books on shelves. Must be able to perform the various tasks of the job, which requires continuous and repetitive, hand and wrist movement.
