This position will coordinate the planning, development, implementation and monitoring of Library computer systems and technologies. Responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values. This position must possess the ability to work cooperatively with others on planning and executing special projects.
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, staffing a public service desk several hours per week, providing exceptional customer service in helping patrons use the Library and all its resources; providing hands-on technical assistance to patrons and staff; developing and implementing tools for maintenance of public computers; assisting in the development of the Library’s website, ILS and OPAC; and presenting technology based classes and programs to the public.
Varied schedule includes rotating evening and weekend hours. Web development experience using HTML and knowledge of SQL databases desired. Experience in computer support and graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in computer or library science; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the essential knowledge, skills and abilities.
