State of the art college library serving Casper College students, employees, and surrounding community seeks an enthusiastic, confident and highly disciplined individual to serve in the position of Library Director. The Director will coordinate and supervise day-to-day operations and services in support of instructional programs, oversee collection management, and facilities management. The successful candidate must be knowledgeable in current library science and technology, supervision of staff, and possess strong administrative and communication skills.

The Library Director provides leadership, planning, and administration of the Casper College Goodstein Foundation Library programs and services in support of the instructional programs of Casper College. The Library Director has principal authority over library, staff, budgets, and programs and works under the direction of the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs.


Essential Duties:

plans and procedures for acquiring, maintaining, and deselecting library resources in all formats
policies and procedures for operation of the library
strong partnerships within the college by advocating for the library and by collaborating with campus constituents to provide, assess, and improve library services to meet campus needs
Ensure that librarian and staff workflows and related processes are effective, efficient, and current
Implement methods to assess the collections to ensure that college-wide, campus, and program specific needs are defined and met
Inform administration of the library's strengths and weaknesses in meeting college needs and accreditation standards
Maintain an effective combination of print, media, and electronic information resources
Oversee the physical and virtual library space and ensure spaces, fixtures, furniture, and technologies are effective to meet the needs of a 21st Century college library

Work Environment:
Typical work environment is an office setting requiring normal safety precautions. Interaction with the public will be required as the College Library is a public service. Short periods of time will be spent outdoors traveling between campus buildings in various weather conditions. Work is usually performed during the normal workday however, early morning; late evening and weekend work may be required during periods of critical attendance to meet the peak periods related to position responsibilities and requirements of the Casper College Library.

Physical Demands:
Employee is regularly required to sit and stand for long periods of time, speak, hear, use hands and fingers to handle materials and use computer, feel, and reach with hands and arms. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required. Less frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds may be required (office supplies, books, paper boxes, etc.).
