Role: Dine College seeks a tech savvy professional librarian for the position of systems Librarian. The person in this position will administer the integrated library system (Voyager), manage the library’s growing collection of electronic resources, maintain the library’s website, act as liaison to our emerging distance education program, and manage all the software and hardware in all three libraries in the Dine college system.

Essential Duties Administers the integrated library system (Voyager). Works collaboratively with the vendor in installing, upgrading, troubleshooting, and training. Runs reports as requested. (20%) Manages the library’s growing collection of electronic resources. Leads the library in exploring, evaluating, and adopting technologies that enhance its resources and services, and provides training for such technologies as need. Will maintain, promote, develop access to, and monitor usage of electronic resources. Negotiates license agreements. (20%) Maintains the library’s website with a focus toward student learning. (5%) Manages and supports all of the hardware and software in the libraries, in collaboration with IT department. (15%) Serves as liaison to distance education faculty and students. (5%) Performs other duties as assigned. (5%)

Education: A Master’s Degree in Library Science from a program accredited by the American Library Association.

Experience: Familiarity with integrated library systems, electronic resources, web design, and the hardware and software used in library applications.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments. A record of successful supervisory experience that fosters a collaborative, inclusive work environment that values diversity and integrity. Ability to work effectively both in a team and independently. Ability to work pleasantly and cooperatively with faculty, staff, and students. Knowledgeable of customer service standards and procedures. Demonstrated working knowledge of technology (both hardware and software), integrated library systems, and web design principles. Oral fluency in Navajo is highly desirable, but not mandatory.

Physical Requirement & Work Environment: Work is typically performed in an interior/office environment, to include but not limited to, the use of a personal computer, viewing a monitor, entering and retrieving data; use of a printer, copier, fax, scanner; filing documents and information. Ability to attend and participate in meetings and training. Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing to internal and external customers via multimedia (email, fax, phone, letter, etc.). Moderate physical activity and limited exposure to physical risk but may require some extended periods of sitting, standing or walking. Ability to maintain confidentially. Work environment is fast pace with timelines. Some in-state and out-of-state travel is required

Employment Requirements: Must have and maintain a valid state issued driver’s license and successfully pass a background check. Other licensing may be required depending on position and/or area of assignment. Use of college vehicle, which requires updated Defensive Driving certificate.
